Here is a list of plugins for WordPress that will optimize your site and get it running quickly and smoothly as possible. There are many plugins available and can really get carried away with the many different plugins that are available, however too many plugins can slow the speed of your site down so keep that in mind.
Broken Link Checker — checks your site for broken link and missing images and lets you know this through the dashboard.
Contact Form 7 — this plugin for your contact page is very simple, nothing too fancy but can be customized and can manage multiple contact forms.
Really Simple CAPTCHA — originally was used for Contact Form 7, it is now a standalone plugin that can be used for putting a CAPTCHA into any of your other plugins.
WordPress Database BackUp — this plugin backup your WordPress tables and other tables of your choosing in the same database.
W3 Total Cache — this plugin improves site performance and user experience by reducing download time, improving your server performance and more.
Shareaholic — a plugin that allows for online sharing made easy. Drive engagement and page views with this plugin.
Simple Social Icons — this plugin allows you to insert the social icons into your sidebar via a widget
Yoast SEO — Helps to make sure your website is configured correctly for search engines and also social media.
Google Analytics for WordPress — add Google Analytics to your WordPress blog, with lots of metadata: custom variables and automatic clickout and download tracking, etc.
UPDATE: A new plugin that I started trying is SUMO. I had no issue with Shareaholic but was curious since it kept popping up around the web. And I know it has been around for a minute however I am slow to try new things. There is a free and pro version of the plugin. So far I have no need to upgrade to the pro version to unlock additional features of the plugin.
Cloudflare — secures your website from online threats and improves your website performance so that your readers experience the fastest page load times when visiting your website. To find out more you can visit their website here.
So there you have it originally ten plugins but eleven total. I threw in a bonus! 😉 What are some plugins that you use for your WordPress website?

I started a blog in February and I have been struggling to find the ‘right’ plug-ins to help it run smoothly, and to grow. Thank you for this list! And for the tech newbie that I am…. what exactly does do?
